Extra class! Excellent work - DID-Award 2010
"Extra" - the short and concise title of this extraordinary work does reflect the pleasant clear structure and the outstanding value of its content. This "Encyclopedia of experimental print finishing" of the Birkhäuser publishing house is already considered as inspiring reference work for all designers. Drafted by the Berlin agency Rimini it has now received its well deserved reward in form of an award. The „Deutsche Institut Druck“ (German Print Institution) gave "Extra" the DID Award 2010. In their statement the jury said among other things: "It stands out with its special cover and its clear and structured design. The innovative combination of two different book block print techniques in a single hardback cover, the high practical value, the very high-quality processing and high-end materials make this product a real highlight. The range of print finishing techniques are a real sensual experience and very well implemented, clearly explained and thus became a real encyclopedia, an essential tool for creative people". At Klenke we have seen it the same way, so we were very happy to realize and supply one component. The choice of the Rimini team to work together with specialists from Dissen on the subject of lenticular we regarded as an honor and decided quickly to support it. On page 30 and 31 Klenke enhanced the publication with an unusual lenticular and also provided technical facts about this particular form of effect printing.
We congratulate the authors Francisca Morlock and Till Beckmann at this point and sincerely thank them for the pleasant cooperation, which gave us much pleasure.
