Varus Battle Receives Spatial Depth and Movement
2009 the region around the Teutoburg Forest celebrated the Varus-year. Exactly 2000 years ago Arminius (respectively Hermann the Cheruscan) and his men devastatingly defeated the Roman legions under the leadership of the commander Varus. To make this epoch-making event a real emotional experience for the visitors of the museum of Kalkriese, the director of the museum asked Klenke to join the project. Thus, two impressive wall images of 48sqm were created. Three-dimensional depth and multiple flips provide within their lenticular combination an impressively vivid scenerio. The lenticular technique was raised to a new level by Klenke Druck. Once again. And even without fight and battle. This scenography was inaugurated by the German Chancellor Dr. Angela Merkel, the President of the European Parliament Hans-Gert Pöttering and the Prime Ministers Christian Wulff and Dr. Jürgen Rüttgers.
